The Movies

Film theatre The Movies was founded in 1912 which makes it the oldest cinema in use in Amsterdam. It houses in a building in the charming Jordaan area from the seventeenth century with four rooms, 400 seats, a beautiful art-deco interior, a bar and a restaurant. Their focus is on classic, art house, revival house and blockbuster quality films. The cinema is opened daily and tickets can be bought at their box office.

The Movies can be found near the Haarlemmerplein, which can be reached by tram. And it’s fittingly located in the long shopping street called the Haarlemmerdijk with lots of small and diverse local niche shops.
