Pathé Tuschinski is considered one of the most beautiful cinemas in The Netherlands with it’s concert theater-like appearance. Especially the main auditorium is very beautiful with two balconies and a stage which could be used for live events and concerts. It has a mix of styles from Amsterdam School, Art Deco and Jugendstil. This is why many Dutch film premieres take place in this movie theatre and during events celebrities can be spotted here. The cinema has six rooms. In the years 1998 to 2002 has a serious restoration taken place of the extravagant exterior and lavishly decorated interior with exotic art, marble, hand-knotted carpets and wall paintings. Premise of this drastic and costly restoration was to give back the look and feel of the early twentieth century, which is the time of the businessman Abraham Tuschinski.
This movie theater can be found on Rembrandt Square, which is one of the nightlife hot spots of the city. So after watching a movie it’s easy to settle down in a nearby restaurant or bar afterwards.
